Florence Mary Freeth [fh.4.6.1.7.5.5]

Florence Mary Freeth was the fifth child of James Freeth & Mary Eliza Owen born November 11th, 1874 at West Bromwich.

In 1881 Florence was living at 289 High St, West Bromwich with her parents, 4 brothers & a sister, where her father was a grocer.

Florence was still at home in 1891with her 5 brothers at 289/287 High St, West Bromwich. 

In 1901 Florence was still living at home at 289 High St. with her widowed father & her brothers Thomas & Harold. 

Florence was still at home with her father & 2 brothers in 1911 at their grocery business in the High St.  She was now described as the housekeeper.

Florence married Percy Knifton in Oct-December 1916 at West Bromwich.  Percy, who was born on June 30th, 1866 in Nottingham, was living with his widowed mother, Mary Anne Knifton, in 1911 at Aston, Birmingham.  He was an organ pedal maker.  Percy’s father, William Knifton, was a railway clerk. Percy, an inventor, took out a number of patents relating to playing organ music on pianofortes.

Florence was one of the executors of her father's will in February 1922.

The 1939 register shows Florence & Percy living at Heath Cottage, Dinerth Rd, Colwyn Bay & Percy was now a retired master pattern maker.

Percy died at Heath Cottage, Dinerth Rd, Colwyn Bay, Denbighshire on March 2nd, 1940.  Probate was granted at Birmingham on May 13th, 1940 to widow Florence.  His effects were £2,161.8s.4d.

Florence of Heath Cottage, Dinerth Rd, Colwyn Bay died on December 25th, 1948 at West Denbighshire Hospital, Llandrillo Rhos, Colwyn Bay.  Probate was granted to nephew Kenneth Herbert Freeth (fh.4.6.1.7.5.2.3) superintendent of boys home, Winston Henn, jeweller & Leonard Hedley Adcock, solicitor.  Her effects were £16,953.4s.1d.
